Professional Lead, Children and Young People

My name is Reb and I have been a children's nurse for over 30 years. In the last 10, I have moved from surgical nursing to education within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, and now the education lead for the hospital. Alongside the team, I also work with other educators within the Paediatric Critical Care Society, CYP ODN leads and regional colleagues. Post-registration education is so important for all of the nursing workforce and something I believe is integral to ensuring safe care for children. In 2025 I split my job so I could take on a new role as the Professional Lead for Children and Young People's Nursing with the RCN- an absolute honour and privilege! This role is enabling me to work with other nurses, professional bodies, organisations and the independent sector to represent CYP nursing. I consider myself as always learning about leadership- so see all conversations as support for both parties!
