Never before has there been such a need within the health and social care sector to develop leaders with the right type of leadership skills and behaviours.
In fact, the Lord Rose and Ed Smith review identified an urgent need for a "clear and visible pipeline of leaders" capable of taking up our more senior roles, with a style of leadership that operates compassionately and inclusively.
This is why the NHS Leadership Academy is delivering a change to the way talent management is approached and practiced. The national leadership development framework "Developing People: Improving Care" aims to guide local, regional and national action by equipping and encouraging health and social care staff at every level to lead improvements.
Throughout the last year, the Academy has worked collaboratively as a network of ten Local Leadership Academies (LLAs) across England – to deliver a wide range of leadership interventions and bring about a whole-system change to talent management.
These guides are one such initiative to ensure that all employees benefit from a talent management journey and all line managers feel equipped to deliver one. We hope you find it useful and welcome your feedback.
