Strategic Lead for Research and Evaluation
I am a Strategic Lead for Research and Evaluation within the Leadership and Management Centre of Excellence, at NHS England. I started my career at the University of Huddersfield, and subsequently worked in a wide variety of social research and policy roles in the public, private and charitable sectors. I was a Senior Researcher at the Department for Work and Pensions, before joining NHS England. My current role involves leading a number of national research and evaluation programmes within leadership and management development, supporting the education and training of a workforce of 1.4 million NHS staff.
While I have specialist skills in research and policy, I have broad management expertise across different domains. I have particular expertise in: programme management; strategy development; quality improvement and performance management; education, training, learning and development; partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
I also fulfil a number of additional / voluntary roles at NHS England, including as a Place-Based Assessor of the Care Environment, a HR independent investigating officer, a diverse recruitment panellist, and as a Freedom to Speak Up Guardian.
In addition, I am a member of the Health Research Authority ethics committee, and I am a professional reviewer for the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
I sit on various research advisory boards, including for the Economic and Social Research Council and for the Cabinet Office.
I am a Fellow of the Health Foundation’s Q Community, and a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare.
