Responsible for providing strategic oversight of the portfolio of programmes and projects and asking the questions ‘Are we doing the right things?’ and ‘Are we getting the benefits from our investment?’. Facilitates the business planning process and the implementation of performance targets to meet strategic objectives and produce Board level performance reports showing progress against the business plan and performance against KPIs.

Provides timely, relevant, accurate and reliable information and high-level reports to enable sound decision making. Takes a lead role in presenting the dashboard, plan on a page and benefits realisation reports and advises directors on the progress against plans. Line manages a team of of programme managers, project managers, programme administrators and an information analyst.

Oversees the definition and maintenance of standards for portfolio/programme/project management and change management within the HRA, ensuring a consistent and high-quality approach to the way portfolios/programmes/projects are delivered. Is the Head of Profession for Project Delivery and attends meetings at DHSC with other Heads of Profession from other ALBs across the health sector to develop and improve the project and change profession.
