Debbie has worked as a General practice nurse and as an ANP and non-medical prescriber in Primary Care for over 20 years. She has a special interest in long term conditions, namely, respiratory disease. Debbie has worked as a lecturer in nurse education since 2010 and previously ran the postgraduate respiratory course and specialist practice respiratory pathway at Queens University.
Debbie is now a Senior Lecturer in and deputy lead for primary and community care at City St George’s, University of London. She leads level 7 clinical assessment and long-term conditions modules and is a key member of the GPN programmes.
Debbie is passionate about education and wants it to be accessible, especially for those based in primary care. As a writer, Debbie has had over 60 articles published in the nursing press. She has also written three textbooks. One of which, the respiratory textbook, was made free online during the first surge of Covid 19.
Debbie is on a number of national groups such as the research and education research committee for the Association of Respiratory Nurses. She is also the community nurse lead of the multidisciplinary community advanced cancer group working with BOPA and UKONS. Debbie is part of the NHS England and QNI groups on long covid.
