Senior Operations Manager

Faizan Rana currently works as a Senior Operations Manager in the National Urgent and Emergency Care Operations team at NHS England. The UEC Operations team has responsibility for maintaining oversight of the entire urgent and emergency care pathway in real-time and deploy actions in line with national operating protocol and Operational Pressures Escalation Level framework. Faizan is also the national project lead for System Co-ordination Centres (SCCs). The SCCs provide a common platform to enable multi-agency response and has supported cross-sector collaboration, central co-ordination of capacity and action, mutual support and dynamic management of risk to improve patient safety. The SCCs operate as part of a national protocol alongside NHS England teams that enhances resilience and speed of response to incidents. Prior to joining the NHS, Faizan has held a number of roles in local government covering contract management, inspection and monitoring of public sector commissioned services. He also takes active interest in global health and following his participation in a Europe wide exchange of healthcare professionals (EU HOPE Exchange), he is able to draw on a Europe wide network of contacts to facilitate knowledge exchange on a range of policy areas. Highlight of key skills to support with knowledge exchange: • Cross-sector collaboration and how it enhances multi-agency response to pressures within the urgent and emergency care pathway • Operational management and oversight of urgent and emergency care pressures – particularly at national level • Facilitate connection to experts operating within the wider emergency care space from pre-hospital to community, and resilience • Support wider reach-out to Europe wide network for knowledge exchange
