Hello my name is Lorraine Mulroney I am the Head of SEND in NHS England. I lead the National SEND team and health policy for CYP with SEND. I am still a registered Children's Nurse with a community qualification and keen to support other children's nurses. As a graduate of the Nye Bevan Executive Leadership Programme I am proud to work in the NHS. I am passionate about joint working across education, health and care, and work closely with colleagues from the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Education and many other stakeholders from National to local level. 2025 is classified as my 34th year in the NHS. From 2016 to 2021 I worked as the Senior Nurse for Children and Young People in NHS England and held SEND in her portfolio. I have previously held clinical nursing roles across hospitals and community settings. Prior to moving to my national role I focused my career on quality improvement and commissioning at a local and regional level.
