Project delivery and business support

A surprising NHS career....

The pandemic reignited my desire to help others; I trained and worked as a vaccinator, marshal, and administrator across the East Midlands and started formal clinical training to work in a specialist care centre. This changed to remote administration for NHS England due to a 2020 diagnosis of a chronic condition. This was the job I was never meant to have! But much to my surprise I became totally and completely engaged in workforce recruitment and retention, being lucky enough to work on several exciting regional campaigns using skills and experience from my communications background.

....preceded by a quieter life....

From 2010 I developed my skills as a Board member, helping charities develop and lead diverse and effective boards and manage their staff fairly. In 2018 I designed and project managed a barn conversion and wrote a third book - about the tax options for holiday cottage owners - which became a best-seller.

All backed up by 25 years of self-employment

My background is 25+ years helping private sector organisations achieve success. I did this by clarifying the aims of the owners, board, or senior management team, working out what resources they had, and presenting a strategy to fill the gaps. I followed up by leading delivery of a costed plan with my own employees, outsourced suppliers, or the organisation’s own teams. The work varied from multilingual marketing campaigns, websites and brochures to policies, training workshops and strategic planning. During this time I wrote thousands of brochures, dozens of websites, hundreds of plans – and two books: one on selling opportunities and one on employee engagement.
