Primary Care Business Administration Officer
Skills and Abilities: Having worked for NHS England since its inception in 2013, I have a strong track record of maintaining effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders in organisations across the South East region. I have undertaken training in presentation skills, and I have experience in presenting information to challenging or resistant groups, for example, I previously taught foreign languages in the classroom, and in my administrative career I have given presentations to colleagues on new ways of working. I have represented NHSE at formal meetings with Sustainability Ambassadors, and in meetings with Sussex police. I have extensive experience of drafting reports to support decision making. I produced the Quality Handover Document for Sussex capturing organisational memory on quality issues, to aid discussion between old and new leaders in the establishment of NHS England. I planned timescales and liaised with contributors, to present data and analysis covering all areas of healthcare, in compliance with Department of Health guidance. I have compiled newsletters, such as the South Region Sustainability & Health Newsletter, read by nearly 600 stakeholders across the South. I have compiled event prospectuses, and project initiation documents. I have also produced analytical documents on data relating to projects such as 7 Day Services. Qualifications and Training: I have a 2:1 BA(Hons) degree in French Studies from the University of Portsmouth. This degree covered a wide-ranging spectrum of subjects including linguistics, French history, the French economy and French culture. I then studied education with the intent of becoming a teacher, before switching to a career in administration and project management. I am a certified PRINCE2 and Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner, the latter was funded by NHSE. Experience and Knowledge: I have undertaken line management training, funded by the NHS. I line managed the Administrative Assistant to the Nursing & Quality directorate and provided practical leadership by modelling preferred ways of working and encouraging them to take advantage of training opportunities, such as minute taking. I find working with team colleagues to achieve common objectives quite fulfilling. I have enjoyed being a member of the KSS and TVW primary care schools team and I would like to progress in my career with this team. I have a good knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools. I applied these principles when planning, launching and managing projects such as the Proud to Care Awards for Surrey and Sussex. I also managed a programme of work as coordinator of the South Region Sustainability & Health Network. Having worked in a variety of roles and directorates within NHSE I have worked with partner organisations across the health and care system. I have organised, and minuted meetings of Directors of Nursing, the Quality Surveillance Group, and Sustainability Ambassadors representing a variety of healthcare roles. In the Controlled Drugs team I liaised with a broad range of healthcare professionals, primary and secondary care leads, ICB representatives, police, local authorities, regulatory bodies, and local representative committees who all contributed to regular meetings of the multi-agency Local Intelligence Networks. Thanks to my current role I am now developing an understanding of the structure and organisation of the healthcare education and training sector. Behaviours and Values: Having worked in various high stakes roles I have been trusted to act with integrity in situations where I have been privy to sensitive information, for example at times of organisational change. I try to be mindful of my impact on colleagues and external contacts by listening respectfully to others’ contributions, and by using empathy to put myself in others’ shoes, whilst at the same time ensuring that I speak up if I have a different perspective that could be helpful to share with others. I am a champion of diversity and equal opportunities. I have attended training to broaden my perspective and awareness on issues such as islamophobia, antisemitism, neurodiversity, and micro-aggressions. This will enable me to ensure that inclusivity is considered in any events, training, publications, or recruitment that I am responsible for.
